Hidden WordPress Options Page

By | March 25, 2018

I love secrets, especially sharing them. 🙂 I started my blogging adventure, not knowing much about WordPress or Web Development, but learned so much in the past 10 years and would like to share what I have learned with you. Knowledge is power and should be shared, not owned. Therefore, I will regularly publish articles about WordPress and the secret of the hidden WordPress options page is a good place to start.

If you were wondering why WordPress is my number one choice as a website platform, you can read the, WordPress is the best Blogging Platform for clarity.

Access Hidden WordPress Options

WordPress has a hidden options page that lists all core, plugin and theme settings stored in your WordPress database. This options page is basically a dump of the entire options table. Keep in mind that even though it is available, you should not mess with it, you could break your website. But if you absolutely have to play around with it, at least make a full backup of your WordPress site first. I recommend you rather use this Hidden WordPress Options page as a reference.

Now, let me show you how to access this Hidden WordPress Options page. Add /wp-admin/options.php to your website URL. For example; https://example.com/wp-admin/options.php, where example.com is your website’s domain.

Add “All Settings” item to the WordPress Settings Menu

To make accessing this options page easier, you can add an All Settings item to the WordPress Settings menu. To do this, you will need to edit your theme’s functions.php file and add the following code:

function add_all_settings_menu() {
    add_options_page(__('All Settings'), __('All Settings'), 'administrator', 'options.php');
add_action( 'admin_menu', 'add_all_settings_menu' );

If you are not comfortable working with code, you can install the Show all Settings in Menu plugin to do the same.
