NPlusPlus by Metanet Software, a Toronto, Ontario based company is a fast-paced, action-packed platformer set in the distant future. You play as a ninja, darting through obstacles, narrowly evading a slew of inadvertently homicidal enemy robots and collecting gold in a minimalist, sci-fi world.
The game is all about smooth physics, deftly controlling the speed and inertia of the character, and the awesome feeling of fluidly moving through each level.
After my initial introduction here on Rizonesoft, I figured that NPlusPlus would be the perfect game for my first review, because I am totally in love with this game.
How to play NPlusPlus?
So, what do you do in NPlusPlus? You run for your life, dodge missiles, climb up wall, jump over traps and collect some gold on the way to the locked exit door that has to be opened by getting to a switch. Watch me play below for more about playing N++:
This game is one of my favorites even though it frustrates me now and then. Especially when moving through the more difficult levels.
Now for a short history; the first version, N was released as freeware in 2004. Surprisingly it gradually spread through word of mouth to millions of players.
From there, NPlus was released in 2008. Since then the game evolved with new maps, new traps, new color themes, new features and a new interface for NPlusPlus.
Below are some important NPlusPlus features:
- Parkour ninjas
- Thousands of hand-crafted levels
- Over 50 beautiful colour schemes
- Over 6 hours of the best music known to humankind
- Co-op and Race (competitive) local multiplayer
- Built-in level editor and global level-sharing
- Highscores and replays for every level
- 100+ hours of gameplay
- Hundreds of fun surprises
The Intro Stages and “Create your own levels”
The first stages of the game is cleverly named the intro, mainly because it introduces you to all the new traps. Some of the traps are still the there from N, but also a bunch of new ones to look out for.
Also, there is a new feature where you can create your own levels as well as play levels created by other players. This is an absolutely amazing feature.
One complaint about NPlusPlus is that each episode consist of a 5 level sequence and you have to complete all 5 to unlock the next episode. It’s easy to start, later, the levels can take hours to master.
However, I see this as a challenge and I don’t have a problem to spend hours to figure out how to complete levels, but that might just be me, the feeling you get when you finally complete that level you’ve been stuck on for hours is indescribable.
In conclusion, I would recommend this game for anyone that loves a challenge not like most single player games these days. I love this game, I loved it since the first one. I played and finished N about 5 times already.
